Engr. Hikmat Toyin Aderibigbe was born on 21st June, 1967 in the Mainland Local Government Area of Lagos State, in the South-West region of Nigeria. She began her education at Baptist Primary School, Kano, Kano State where she obtained her First School Leaving Certificate in 1979. She subsequently attended Federal Government College, Kano, Kano State from 1979 to 1984, earning the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), Ordinary Level.
In 1984, she gained admission to the prestigious University of Ilorin, Kwara State, where she studied Civil Engineering and graduated in 1989 with a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree. She completed the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme between 1989 and 1990 at the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos State.
In 1993, Engr. Aderibigbe joined the Federal Ministry of Housing as a Pupil Engineer. Since then, she has served the Ministry diligently in various capacities in both building and road construction. Her professional experience spans across design and supervision of buildings and road infrastructure in several locations including Abesan, Isheri Olofin, and Igbogbo–Ikorodu in Lagos State. She also managed the Federal Site and Services Scheme in Igbogbo, Lagos State.
She has supervised the maintenance of the Federal Secretariat, Ikoyi, Lagos, and the construction of road infrastructure projects under the Special Intervention Programmes (SIPs) in Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, and Osun States. She also served as the Zonal Coordinator for Infrastructural Projects under the Federal Government’s National Housing Programme in the South-West Geo-Political Zone.
Through dedication and outstanding service, she rose steadily through the ranks and, in 2024, was appointed Director (Structures). She currently serves as the Director and Head of Department, Engineering Services (DES/HOD), where she oversees policy formulation, planning, design, and implementation of all Engineering infrastructure projects, as well as the day-to-day operations of the Engineering Services Department under the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
Engr. Hikmat Toyin Aderibigbe is happily married and blessed with Children.
